Mendip Challenge 2010

Dear All,

I am not sure where it is mentioned in the last magazine, but the Mendip RTV Challenge is on Saturday 9th October 2010.  The Somerset & Wilts LRC have a website with all details.  I hope we can raise a good entry this year, even better than last year.

I hope this is useful,

Robin

Greyhound Club Night 6th Aug

To anyone coming,

I have been asked by the landlady of the Greyhound to publicise a Buffet meal that the new chef is doing on Friday.

Just under a tenner to test/taste his range of quality foods.

They would like prior bookings if possible, so ring 01929 471332 and give it your support.

New vehicle again

To All,

A funny thing happened to me the other day.  I saw another Defender 90 and have - well - bought it.  It is getting a bad habit.  Anyway, it keeps my options open.

See you all on Sunday

Robin

new vehicle

Dear All,

I have finally got a  Series III.  Everyone tells me its a bit hard on the back.

I will see everyone along at Somerley.

Who is setting things up this time?

ABS/traction control

Just a small note that the ABS is absolutely useless on black ice. If all four wheels lock up the brakes have no idea which to release.

Happy New Snowy Year to everyone

Weather permitting see you all on Saturday

Mendip challenge 2009

Posted in

Dear All,

I have noticed that the club is holding RTV trials just after the club nights.  The Mendip challenge RTV day is Saturday 10th October 2009.  Can the planners not hold a club event on the following day.  The Somerset and Wiltshire Landrover club Ltd has an application form online for this years entries.  How about a larger entry from us this year!

Thanks

Thank you to all the committee who had the nerve/strength to risk booking this.  The size and variety of the tracks, bogs and slopes were plenty for the assembled visitors.  The slopes changed during the day and continued to offer challenges to the end of the day.

The catering and toilet facilities were great and everyone seemed to enjoy the activities and sunshine.

Spotting Landrover Defenders in Italy

I did not think there would be many defenders in the centre of Florence, Italy.  Saw three all newish, and one was a police vehicle with winch

Mannington

It was good to revisit Mannington and enjoy the large varied site.  Although the scores recorded are on the higher side I think it was great fun.  May all who took part thank the organisers.  This site is great for washing the mud from the vehicle before leaving.  A bonus car wash!

The Axminster trial was the absolute limit for a smart Defender and I spent most of the trials avoiding tree branches and tree roots.  I have always liked the trip to Axminster and I introduced Andy Baker to the site and the club.  I hope he joins when he gets his RR/series hybrid finished

Lets hope Mannington is as good as we all remember it
