Oxdrove and local lane TRO's...........

HI All, i drove to Salisbury up the A354 today, and noticed that there are lots of TRo signs at the end of the Oxdrove, the lane down to Stratford Tony, and the one nearer Coombe Bisset..............

Just in case you are planning a trip which would include these lanes i would suggest you don;t........  i guess they've got cut up in the wet weather.........

On a plus note, i heard today that apparently Hell lane is now open should you be daft enough to try and drive it, and also the long land at Halstock is once again open!

Halstock Lane

I have just walked some of the Halstock Lane starting at the Golf course, there are still "road closed" signs up at both ends that I came across. The lane seems to have had a lot of work carried out to the surface and the hedgerow has been cut back. There was an area in the middle of the track that has had no resurface work carried out which, judging by the state of my trainers and the dog (which I am now in trouble with the wife) could be interesting to drive. Its just the road signs at both ends which make me wary of driving it, even though it seems to have been used recently.

Trevor, i have been in touch

Trevor, i have been in touch with the ROW officer at DCC, and he assures me that the labe at Halstock is open,  here is his reply....

Hi Ronald

I have investigated this issue and the only UCR that has been closed in
this parish is Common Land

The signs may be out but the road has not got a TRO on it at present.

I would contact the Parish Council or Dorset Highways Organisation to ask
for the signs to be removed.

£20,000 has been spent on the surface and it might have already been
trashed and that is why the road signs have been left up.

I hope this is useful

Hope that confirms it for us that Halstock lane is open....!

Halstock lane

Hi Ron,

Thanks for looking into the Halstock lane, I might try & get out next week to have a drive of it.

Don't be shy. Where are these

Don't be shy. Where are these places? Hell lane sounds fun! :-)

I agree Hell Lane sounds a

I agree Hell Lane sounds a blast!

Hell lane is in the row

Hell lane is in the row officers words, 'interesting'... they took one of the works land rovers down there and had to turn around as they knew they would be winching themselves back out.......... as they couldn;t get through......... those that really want to know where it is can ask me, i will tell anyone, but would rather not broadcast on here where a lane that has been troublesome on the past is, as, sure as eggs are eggs, as soon as it gets used there will be trouble...............

Uh oh, Hell no!

Always, always, ALWAYS walk Hell Lane first! If you don't and just assume it's passable it's odds on you will get badly stuck and need recovering.

From one who has had calls from friends quite late in the afternoon (around 4pm, but I couldn't help that time) and not recieved the "home safe" message until after ten....

Oh, and it's not so much "scratchy" as "denty"!

Hell lane is just down the

Hell lane is just down the road from me, I have walked it several times but wouldnt want to do it on my own, it's not too bad since it re-opened, but if a couple of people would like to spend an afternoon walking first then driving this and a couple of lanes local to me my email is jamiep@bluebottle.com
